About Our Salsa Macha
Chicana Foods™ salsa macha is a surprising blend of rich, nutty, spicy, flavor with the perfect touch of smoke. The combination of ingredients is unlike anything you’ve tried outside of Mexico and is absolutely addictive. Made using high-quality seeds, nuts, chiles, olive oil, and dried fruit, our salsas offer a flavor profile that will have you hooked after the first bite. Salsa Macha is typical of the Veracruz and Oaxaca Mexican states with African influences. Our recipe was developed by our loving aunt in Mexico and refined here in our Boise, Idaho kitchen.
Our Story
Chicana Foods™ was founded by first-generation Mexican-American professional photographer Allison Corona with the help of her sisters Claudia and Giovanna along with their mother, Gloria. Our macha salsas are inspired by traditional family recipes used in Mexico for decades. Over 20 years ago, our mothers sisters and brothers started their own salsa company in Mexico. Today, they have 50 employees and produce salsa enjoyed by thousands of Mexican families every week. Their success has been an inspiration and an example to follow as we embrace our employees like family and grow our company together.
Our Vision
Feeding people is an act of love, which is why our business is not just food—it’s an extension of our family. That approach also drives our mission to change the perception of how a company can run. Businesses cannot thrive without a strong internal culture which is why providing a living wage and a safe environment for our employees will always be the number one priority at Chicana Foods.™
Our family values also helped foster our commitment to community with empathy, understanding, and generosity. We will hold ourselves accountable with action by promising to donate a portion of our sales to non-profit organizations such as the Stay-In-School Quinceañera Program, which exposes Latine middle school students to Latine art, literature, and culture.
We hope you love our salsa as much as we do – and if so, “Welcome to the family!”
